Tonight, I wrote this as a social media post, but I think it deserves wider dissemination:
Your friendly periodic reminder that the Volusia County Republican Executive Committee / Party is insane. This is straight off their official website and Twitter. They re-post that the Democratic Party is a "massive crime organization" that rigs elections. They tweet "RIP Speaker Nancy " just 3 weeks after her husband is brutally attacked. They re-tweet comparisons of Democrats to China's authoritarian regime and are still stuck on mocking and deriding COVID-19 vaccines (ironic given that Trump views them as one of his administration's great accomplishments).
This rhetoric is scary and sets the stage for authoritarianship in the USA. It is dangerous and should be widely publicized most critically, yet has become so blasé, commonplace, and normalized that no one reports on it. Accepting this behavior from the Volusia County Republican Party is a mistake that poses a grave risk to our democratic constitutional republic.
The rhetoric shown in these screenshots from official postings of the Volusia County Republican Party takes on a whole new meaning with Trump's recent proposal to throw out the United States Constitution and install himself as a dictator. The Volusia Republicans and Florida Republicans just came off their biggest wins in modern history, yet all of these posts demonizing Democrats are from the past few weeks. If the United States of America falls under Republican rule again at the national level, how far will the propaganda go? Their need for a scapegoat won't end, and the future could be quite dark.

The GOP has become a dangerous Party, no matter where it has embedded itself. Unfortunately for us in Florida, it seems to be embedded deeply. Yet when "new" energy comes along, at least in Volusia County for the Democrats, it wasn't accepted. I just watched a video about Idaho, and it is scary there also.
